About Me

This is my 15th year as the elementary school counselor at Wagner Community School. I attended the University of South Dakota for my undergraduate degree in Psychology and continued at USD to get my master’s degree in School Counseling.

I work with students on skills that will help them grow academically and personally to be the best they can be!! I work closely with parents/guardians, teachers, Mr. Duffek, and mental health counselors (IHS, WCC, Lewis and Clark) to help all students at our school. I spend my days with students by greeting them as they come to school, teaching classroom counseling lessons, and of course, school-based counseling! I also work with the Raider Ambassadors who are students in 2nd and 3rd grade that are chosen by their classmates to help new students to their class feel welcome.

In our school I am involved with the MTSS teams and am the advisor for the High School National Honor Society. I am a member of the American School Counseling Association and am currently serving as President of the South Dakota School Counseling Association board of directors. I am also a member of the South Dakota Counseling Association.

I live in Wagner with my husband Jamie and our three children: Clarah (6th grade), Windsor (4th grade), and Willow (1st grade). Jamie sells Pioneer seed and likes being on the fire department and when I am not at school I enjoy cleaning, going to my kids’ activities and gardening.

Students meet with me for a variety of reasons…
